CEO

FitnessGenes

Dr. Sam Decombel is the CEO and co-founder of FitnessGenes and holds a PhD in Genetics. With over a decade working at the intersection of genomic science and the fitness industry, she has arrived at one clear conviction: people don't want more data, they want to know what to do. It's the philosophy behind BASIL, FitnessGenes' newly launched longevity system that translates genetic and lifestyle science into personalised, actionable guidance.

Sam believes genetics remains one of the most underutilised opportunities in the fitness industry. It explains why clients respond differently to the same nutrition and training approaches, and understanding those differences unlocks a new level of personalisation that gets better results for clients and stronger outcomes for the businesses working with them.

For fitness professionals at every level - from individual PTs and coaches to gym operators - that means a genuine opportunity to cut through the noise, differentiate their offering, and build deeper, longer-lasting client relationships.

My Healthy Shift

Fiona’s 27-years in the fitness, wellness, and leisure industry has formed a very rounded experience. From working her way up through operations and sales to GM and everything in between, then latterly to building national sales strategies, recruiting high-performing teams, and driving commercial growth through delivering innovations with market-leading brands including Life Fitness, Matrix, Les Mills, and Anytime Fitness UK.

As Co-Founder of My Healthy Shift, she now focuses on helping the industry evolve from traditional fitness offerings to holistic wellness through the delivery of Health coach qualifications and Lifestyle programming into facilities to empower the widest demographic to build the life skills and resilience to prioritise their own long-term wellbeing, and hopefully connect them to our facilities to truly get more people, more active, more often!

Fiona’s passion about driving positive change in how people experience movement and wellbeing came from years of facility design and demographic profiling. Looking deeper at trends on engagement, ex member and retention, questioning the reasons why people struggle to remain committed and achieve results led to partnering with resilience expert Glenda and Obesity expert Sarah. Between them they designed an empowerment programme for operators to deliver life style led participation to support more people to live their healthier lives.
