Tommy has considerable experience in high-performance sport both as an athlete and professionally. Over a long career as an international athlete in Olympic Weightlifting Tommy has won 5 Commonwealth Games medals, is a current British record holder, 6 times British Champion and represented Great Britain at the 2000 Olympic Games. Prior to his role with British Weight Lifting, Tommy had over 10 years of experience in high performance sport settings. As a strength and conditioning coach for the English Institute of Sport and British Athletics he led support and coached many international athletes, including Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games medallists across two Olympic cycles. After graduating from the University of Oxford with a Masters Degree in Engineering Science, Tommy spent time as a Biomechanics research assistant before starting his career in high-performance sport. Tommy is now tasked with ensuring elite British Olympic lifters and IPC powerlifters have the support, opportunities and infrastructure in place to perform on the world stage and win medals at Olympic and Paralympic games.
