Martin started with Metro Blind Sport on 1st October 2018 and leads the Metro Blind Sport team in achieving their aim of opening doors to sport for all vision impaired people, regardless of age or sporting ability.
Martin’s previous roles have included being a Director for the Royal Life Saving Society UK, the UK’s leading drowning prevention charity. Martin has a strong successful senior management background having worked as a Contract Manager for a large leisure management contractor. He has a good network and knowledge within the sport and leisure sector and key awareness of the needs of charitable organisations. He is a passionate, enthusiastic leader with private, public and third sector background and experience in business development, leisure marketing, communications and partnership management.
Sport can have many benefits for people living with a visual impairment. There are barriers that barriers that exist from lack of transport to venues/activities, through to awareness of opportunities on offer and visual awareness knowledge of staff. In his role as CEO, Martin would like to tackle these barriers to ensure that visually impaired people can benefit from the advantages that are gained from taking part in physical activity.
