Julie, a former PE teacher, founded Move it or Lose it in 2010 to change the way we age and to get people moving more often, whatever their age or ability.
Julie has been celebrated for her work as a social entrepreneur, growing Move it or Lose it into a nationally recognised company helping older people to live more active, healthier, happier lives.
Julie has developed an award-winning range of exercise DVDs and authored a book encouraging older people to be physically active on a regular basis, for which she has won national recognition. Julie has appeared on TV, radio and writes regular columns for two national magazines aimed at the over 60s.
As collaborating partners of the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at University of Birmingham, Move it or Lose it translates the latest research into practical applications. Julie has developed a CIMSPA endorsed training programme called FABS (Flexibility, Aerobic, Balance and Strength) combining exercises which are proven to reduce frailty and help people to live longer better.
Move it or Lose it has trained over 1,000 specialist instructors and hundreds of volunteers and staff for their charity partner, Royal Voluntary Service.
Their national network of licensees deliver classes in community, care and NHS settings reaching hundreds of thousands of older people every week.
