A background in physical education, health related exercise and health promotion, Bob has been working as a consultant in physical activity and older people since 1995, including work with the BHF National Centre at Loughborough University, Dapaprtment of Health, Age UK, Care Inspectorate (Scotland) and Public Health England. Bob has particular interests in the areas of translating evidence into practice, physical activity programme design, motivation and behaviour change and people living with dementia. Bob is also a Director of Later Life Training, a UK and Europe wide company that since 2002, has specialised in training health professionals, physiotherapists and exercise teachers and leaders who work with older people. He is currently acting as advisor to the PACE-UP Walking Trial (London), the MRC Funded USP Seniors and Sedentary Behaviour Trial (Glasgow), the NIHR Walk With Me Research Project, (Belfast) and the EU Funded European wide PROFOUND Falls prevention programme. Bob also work with a number of national and international working groups including co-chairing the DWP Public Health and Active Lifestyles group, the EUNAPA and Profound Programmes funded by the European Community, an Advisory Board member to the International Council on Active Aging and is currently Chair of the EU and WHO HEPA Network on Active Ageing.
