Ali Goodall is the Youth Sport Trusts (YST’s) Senior Innovations Manager. After gaining a degree in Sport and Recreation Studies from Staffordshire University, Ali worked in Local Authority Leisure facilities, moving into sports development at West Berkshire Council for 10 years where, after further study in health promotion she successfully set up one of the early GP Referral Exercise on Prescription Programmes.
Joining the Youth Sport Trust is 2002, Ali worked as a Regional Development Officer with sports colleges and school sport partnerships before finding her vocation in Innovation where she has delivered and developed programmes in disability sport pathways, health and wellbeing, tackling obesity and physical literacy. In 2012/13 Ali researched and developed the award-winning Girls Active Programme which continues to tackle inactivity in adolescent girls, developing their confidence and leadership skills.
Ali sits on YST’s Equality and Diversity strategy group and aims to drive innovative practice throughout the organisation, championing co-design with young people. In addition to developing new projects, Ali works closely with the Research and Insight and Fundraising teams at YST to develop new funding applications to support the charities work.
Ali’s current action research project is Active Across Ages, an intergenerational programme which brings children and older adults together through sport and physical activity. She is delighted with the impact on social wellbeing shown through the pilot and determined to enable more children and older adults to enjoy the benefits of intergenerational activity.
