The foundations of human movement: simplifying the complex puzzle

Thursday 9th May 09:50 - 10:30

Improving human movement is a complex puzzle with a variety of contributing disciplines, such as biomechanics, sport and exercise physiology, sports medicine and strength and conditioning - often only brought together in the elite sport setting.

The first part of this session will demonstrate how the in-depth knowledge from those disciplines is applied in elite youth football, with insights into the workings of the Man City FC Academy, which was established to revolutionise the academy football system in the UK.

The second part of the session will then demonstrate how the principles of improving human movement, with minimal equipment, can bring benefits in areas as varied as elite athlete performance, recreational exerciser aesthetics and patient return to function.
