Eating to reduce your carbon footprint

Wednesday 17th June 14:15 - 14:45

As concern about the impact of climate change grows, more and more people are looking at how they can reduce their carbon footprint through their lifestyle choices. A key area of focus is our diet. This presentation will explore how our food choices impact the environment. Most people are aware that eating less meat is beneficial but don’t understand why, or whether that is always the case. For example, how does the carbon footprint of local beef compare with an avocado that has been flown in from South America? I will consider the effectiveness of a range of approaches including eating less meat, buying locally produced food, eating seasonally and reducing food waste. We will conclude with practical hints and tips on achieving a diet that benefits both our health and the health of the planet.
