What are the benefits of group consultations

Thursday 9th May 13:55 - 14:35

There is an emerging trend for group consultations, allowing a more personalised and efficient way for people to confidently manage their long-term conditions.

Group consultations are one-to-one clinical consultations delivered in a supportive peer group setting with around 10-15 patients, who have a similar condition and or a similar set of challenges. The clinician (who can be a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist or other HCP) may be supported by other disciplines during the consultation, such as physical activity and nutrition professionals to provide additional advice and support.

Group consultations can help reduce demand and improve efficiency for GPs and health care professionals – whilst empowering patients with long-term health issues to self-care. In this session we will explore a group consultation case study and provide first hand experiences into implementation, best practice approaches, and the benefits to both patient and clinician.
