Empowering patients: promoting self management and behaviour change

Wednesday 8th May 16:55 - 17:30

How you talk with patients during your session influences what they do after your session. Behaviour change after your session will be what makes the biggest difference to their recovery, health and wellbeing. You can strengthen your patient's readiness to change, and confidence about changing, with a certain type of conversational style. This style is different from the 'diagnose, instruct and persuade' style of many clinicians. This seminar will share with you best practice and helpful brief approaches for patient empowerment, self-management and behaviour change. Dr Tim Anstiss has trained thousands of health professionals in these approaches and been involved in several regional, national and international health behaviour change initiatives.
