How do you break down a challenge: is the 2 hour marathon achievable?

Thursday 9th May 11:10 - 12:00

It has long been considered unthinkable that a marathon could be completed in 2 hours, however Eluid Kipchoge smashed the world record finishing in two hours, one minute and 39 seconds and in 2017 came within 25 seconds of the 2 hour marathon in controlled conditions as part of a NIKE project. This is an amazing feat of human performance… but how do you break down such a challenge, how do you apply science, technology, injury prevention and training and development – and is the unthinkable now achievable?
