Prescribing movement for Depression

Regular physical activity and an active life improves sleep, mood and self confidence, reduces social isolation and can reduce sickness absence in the short term for mild to moderate depression. Evidence demonstrates that those with high levels of physical activity have a lower chance of developing depression, when compared to those with lower levels. This session will explore treatment of depression and discuss detail surrounding the qualitative barriers to physical activity and how this evidence is best translated into practice using the moving medicine consultation framework.
