Understanding motivation and will-power to maximise potential

Wednesday 9th May - 12:40-13:10

Motivation is an essential foundation in all areas of physical activity, from elite performance to casual exercise. Most people subscribe to a simple ‘more is better’ perspective, implying that the more motivated a person is, the more engaged or effective the performance will be. The aim of this talk is to persuade attendees to consider an alternative approach to motivation by explaining how different motivational processes impact behaviour. A deeper understanding of motivation in exercise and performance settings can lead to innovative, yet straightforward strategies that can enhance performance and engagement.
