“Just Get to the Point!” Trigger point needling in clinical practice.
This seminar outlines the common approaches to trigger point needling and discusses the evidence for a clinically reasoned approach. It will review the evidence and seek to address the misconception regarding the differences and similarities between trigger point needling, dry needling, western medical acupuncture and traditional Chinese acupuncture. The neurophysiological mechanisms of dry needling at peripheral and spinal levels will be investigated as will the needling techniques themselves. The aim of this session is to give clinicians an overview of dry needling and its mechanisms related to clinical application.
