Group exercise is ranked as one of the UK’s top five ways to stay healthy, and its popularity continues to grow with 1 million more weekly participants in 2018, than 2016. The variety of formats, availability and excellence in instruction underpins this growth and popularity. This session will highlight the value of group exercise to industry, the motivations in group environments and discuss the key steps for delivering a strong, innovative group exercise proposition.
Emma Forward, Chief Operating Officer at EMD UK
Emma is the Chief Operating Officer for EMD UK, the national governing body for group exercise and a member of the FitgroupUK executive panel. With over 20 years’ experience in the fitness sector, Emma drives the operation of EMD UK with a particular focus on the relationship with Sport England. An active group exercise instructor and participant, Emma is passionate about championing the role of the instructor and the importance of quality in all aspects of group exercise. Being involved weekly in a range of classes keeps Emma in touch with the real issues facing instructors and group exercise managers and brings a unique and valuable perspective back to the board table of EMD UK.
