Current research tells us, that childhood obesity is increasing, and we know that educating children from an early age into the benefits of regular exercise will stay with them for life. This is one of the reasons why it is so important within the leisure industry, for pool facility managers to consider how well used their wet play areas are and what could be done to improve attendance.
Transforming a wet play area with low usage into an interactive splash zone can be challenging, but with 20 years’ experience, Hippo Leisure will design, manufacture, install and commission inclusive water play products suitable for the whole family, including low level play for toddlers as well as high level anticipatory and big splash play for older children and even adults. If required, we can ensure that our solutions are appropriate for use by the visually impaired or those needing a more sensory approach.
Our research and industry insight ensure when working with facility managers that we propose versatile and flexible solutions that create a highly visual impact, are easy to operate and maintain and can be installed indoors or outdoors. The fully customised product range includes everything from toddler slides and splash zones to water factories, play platforms and adrenaline rushing flume slides.
Ensuring wet play facilities are in demand and encouraging physical activity will have the additional benefit of increasing footfall to the facility and increasing revenue which has got to be beneficial for facility managers as they compete for visitors.
Hippo Leisure recently transformed the beach area of the leisure pool at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre into a highly interactive water play area aimed at children of all ages and abilities. This project was part of a £1million refurbishment programme.
The play features include a water factory, splash toys and wide slide, which have been installed to help encourage children and their families in the community to become increasingly active on a regular basis. A variety of high and low-level features allow children to develop their water confidence through play as they explore and discover their aquatic environment.
Barnaby Rich, General Manager at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre told Somerset Live: “This comprehensive refurbishment programme will allow us to provide outstanding, accessible and affordable facilities for the entire community, to get more people, more active, more often”.
