Rehabilitation in the Community - Supporting our health system and local communities with rehabilitation and long term-health condition pathways – what is the opportunity for community leisure?

Wednesday 12th June 15:40 - 16:20

Collaborate

Momentum is gathering in the sector’s drive to lead as a preventative health partner for our over stretched NHS. As an industry our doors have always been open as a community asset and a familiar space for local people, but those who need our services most have struggled to engage for a variety of reasons – but a key barrier is poor health, and in some respects a ‘one size fits all’ approach from us as operators.

But this is changing and the traditional leisure model as we know it, is seeking to adapt to better cater for local needs – but do we realise the full opportunity and potential? And are we making the shift quickly enough to stop the drastic decline of our nation’s health? What is the real opportunity and can we grasp it as a sector to fulfil our real ambitions – of helping people to live happier and healthier lives for longer
