Ventriject (Copenhagen, Denmark) has developed a novel approach to assess the cardiorespiratory fitness, quantifiable as VO2 Max. This medical device technology - Seismofit® - relies on the SeismoCardioGraphy method and advanced algorithms to assess and monitor this clinical vital sign, probably the strongest indicator of health according to the American Heart Association (ref. https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.1161/CIR.0000000000000461) and as recently reinforced in the editorial of the Journal of American College of Cardiology (ref. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36948730/).
SeismoFit does not require any patient exercise, contrary to conventional CPET method. It includes a monitoring device placed on the chest to capture the heartbeat vibrations for 40 seconds; the data acquired is transferred from the device to a smartphone application onto a server, where the signals are analyzed. The algorithm includes other parameters such as patient height, weight, age, and gender. Once analyzed, the VO2 max results appear on the smartphone application. This whole procedure lasts less than 3 minutes.
Seismofit is accurate, user-friendly, fast and inexpensive, allowing regular monitoring of this key health and fitness predictor.
