Elevate Embraces Sustainability with Big Wave Media partnership and independent study

Elevate is proud to unveil our latest commitment to sustainability. For the past 2 events we have taken decisive steps to minimise our ecological footprint and look forward to showcasing this again in June.

Big Wave Media is proud to partner with Elevate and to support the sustainability of this year's event through our Printing Trees initiative. We are looking forward to the publication of the Sustainability in Heath & Fitness Trends Report, having enjoyed taking part in the research. We are sure it will deliver great insight into the sector and spark much conversation and action.

Step by step, we are continuing to make changes by minimizing non-essential carpet usage throughout the exhibition area. Every 20sqm of carpet not used saves 1 tonne of CO2 – this soon adds up when taking out aisle carpets.

Reuseable and where possible recyclable signage is used and we encourage our exhibitors to do the same with a range of stand builders. We are delighted to be working with Big Wave Media who can offer a range of Recyclable Printed Materials, we ensure our floorplans are recyclable and our app, engineered by MyFitApp is the perfect way to navigate the exhibitor floor and education theatres without paper.

Attendees have a big part to play and the Elizabeth line and DLR make getting to Excel on public transport easy! If you need to drive, we recommend ‘team travel’ saving on both our carbon foot print but the parking costs!

We are delighted the TMD will be providing our Lanyards again this year. Once attendees, speakers and exhibitors have finished at the show we encourage them to be left in one of the recycle or reuse points at the exit.

Excel has a number of sustainability initiatives including one of the largest commercial wormeries, containing 300,000 worms to recycle food waste, 100% of the venues electricity comes from renewable sources and the water fountains installed throughout the venue resulting in 200,000 fewer plastic bottles used every year – so make sure you bring your reuseable water bottle and be part of the change!!

We know Elevate will still have a carbon footprint. After Elevate 2023, over 3000 trees took root and part of our commitment to offsetting the carbon footprint of our event. For 2024 we will be working with Big Wave Media for our Tree Planting Initiative

Within our event program, you'll find a wealth of sustainability-focused content, designed to inspire and drive positive environmental action. This year we have taken that further and teamed up with the experts at 4Good.

4Good, renowned sustainability experts have conducted a comprehensive sustainability report which has gather insights and perspectives from key stakeholders in the UK's health and fitness sector. The report, which will be able at Elevate this June focuses on emerging trends, current practices, challenges, and opportunities for sustainable growth within our industry.

We are aware there is so much more we can do, individually and collectively. We welcome any thoughts, feedback and suggestions to help make Elevate more and more sustainable each year.
